Mission

Resilient Recovery NC was founded in response to Hurricane Helene to provide disaster recovery support for communities in Western North Carolina. The nonprofit focuses on aid distribution, road and bridge repairs, new home construction for displaced families, and environmental restoration efforts, including bioremediation and soil rebuilding. Committed to resilience and sustainability, the organization also removes downed trees to restore safe access and revitalizes areas impacted by flooding.

Vision

The vision of Resilient Recovery NC is to build stronger, more resilient communities in Western North Carolina by providing rapid, sustainable disaster recovery and long-term environmental restoration. The nonprofit aims to empower affected communities to not only recover from natural disasters but also thrive in their aftermath, fostering a future where families, infrastructure, and ecosystems are more resilient to future challenges.

See What Our Customer Say About Us

Chris

We residents/property owners were in a state of shock and disbelief following the devastation created by Hurricane Helena here in Western North Carolina. Lots of well-intentioned, volunteer groups offered assistance with tree and debris clean up, but seldomly, if ever, showed up.

RESILIENT RECOVERY NC offered assistance and showed up en force with both equipment and personnel. Over the course of a few days, this small army of good-natured volunteers including trac hoes and skid steer loaders did a masterful clean up of creekside storm debris. From construction debris, downed trees, uprooted stumps and seemingly countless mangled cars,

these wonderful folk got us off the ground toward recovering, not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

We, a small off-the-map community of 30+ homeowners on Flat Creek in Fairview, Buncombe County, one of countless WNC holler communities, owe a debt of gratitude to RRNC and Jim, it's executive administrator. Their efforts helped "kickstart" us back to recovery.

Thank you again and...I am not a Robot. My name is Chris

Buck creek in Marion NC was totaled with unprecedented devastation. The massive clean out effort afterwards stood as a monumental task seemingly forgotten by the federal powers at be . The locals felt as they always have. Alone to deal with the constant reminder of absolute loss. Although cared for buy locals and numerous churches as well as contributions from county resources whose hands remained tied ,the massive cleanup of our water ways and mountains of rubble still seemed as something forever in there lives .

However through the selfless act of generosity and sheer unmatched fortitude of the volunteers brought in by Resilient Recovery NC, hope is restored.

Never have I been more proud to be a human being . Just being there witnessing the care, compassion, and complete heroism these men and woman shine daily brings me to tears. This is the true meaning of what America should be. I thank God for Jim and his people.

I just wanted to say I am in awe!!! I stopped by yesterday. Your setup is absolutely a Godsend and exactly what I needed! I cried when I was leaving, happy tears! I have been in the communities since Monday after the storm and I could safely get out. I have driven an hour and a half away to get resources for 3 families to drive them an hour and half another direction and it didn’t go well.

Your location and the availability of supplies is truly amazing and the volunteers there were beyond kind!! I am so grateful to have this as a resource to help others!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions answered.

What accomodations do you have for volunteers?

We have limited space inside the warehouse for volunteers to set up tents and cots with bathrooms and a makeshift kitchen with camp stoves, refrigerators, coffee pot, microwave. There is also plenty of space outdoors for those with campers to set up. There is a campground in Morganton that you can pay a $10 sewage dump fee. Meals are not provided but there are plenty of options nearby if you don't want to cook your own food.

Do you charge for your services?

No, although projects requiring materials will likely need to be paid for by the client if donations are unavailable. Further, the intent of our organization is to restore and recover from damages that are the direct result of a state or federally declared natural disaster. If projects fall outside of that scope we reserve the right to bill for time and materials as appropriate and in accordance to industry standards. For damages to private roads, bridges, or homes we will assist in applying for HOI or FEMA reimbursements to assist in getting the project fully funded.

We are planning on bringing in supplies from out of state, what kind of things should we prioritize.

That's a tough question as needs are constantly changing, and people who have been displaced are ready to rebuild and get back to stable living conditions, ie. an actual home. Your best bet would be to give us a call! We are still distributing aid across the region and have a good pulse of what the current needs are. You can also visit https://wnc-supply-sites.com/ which is a database of vetted distribution sites that are still active.

Are you a 501c3 Non-profit?

Just about! We have filed and waiting for our determination letter.

Do you hand out aid to survivors at your location?

By appointment only

Do you work on the weekend?

At this time we are only working M-F unless we are having a work party or receiving shipments by appointment.

How can I become a member of your organization?

Give us a call or fill our our contact form! There are still plenty of opportunities for leadership and we are actively looking to grow our team.
