Private Road & Bridge Repair

Our volunteer team is here to help North Carolina residents recover from the severe impacts of Hurricane Helene, offering vital services to repair washed-out driveways, private roads, and small bridges or culverts.

We understand the urgency of restoring access to your home or property, and our team is dedicated to making sure you can safely get where you need to go.

If your repairs are eligible for insurance or FEMA coverage, we’ll ensure they are handled to prevent further damage and create safe passage only. For any additional repairs, we provide affordable "pay it forward" options to help those who can't. Let us help restore your access and get your recovery underway.

Enivironmental Impact

Bio-remediation projects:

Mycoremediation uses fungi to break down environmental contaminants, phytoremediation leverages plants to absorb or neutralize toxins, and intrinsic bioremediation relies on natural microbial processes to restore ecosystems without human intervention.

Mycoremediation with Fungal Mats:

Deploying fungal mats or inoculated wood chips to contaminated areas allows fungi to break down hydrocarbons, heavy metals, and other pollutants through enzymatic processes. These mats can be placed in erosion-prone areas or along waterways to filter and clean runoff.

Phytoremediation with Native Plants:

Planting native species with deep root systems, like willows or sunflowers, helps absorb heavy metals, stabilize soil, and reduce erosion in flood-affected areas. These plants can also detoxify and improve soil quality over time.

Biostimulation for Intrinsic Remediation:

Enhancing natural microbial activity in the soil by adding nutrients, oxygen, or other amendments encourages microorganisms already present to accelerate the breakdown of contaminants, restoring the ecosystem naturally and sustainably.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions answered.

What accomodations do you have for volunteers?

We have limited space inside the warehouse for volunteers to set up tents and cots with bathrooms and a makeshift kitchen with camp stoves, refrigerators, coffee pot, microwave. There is also plenty of space outdoors for those with campers to set up. There is a campground in Morganton that you can pay a $10 sewage dump fee. Meals are not provided but there are plenty of options nearby if you don't want to cook your own food.

Do you charge for your services?

No, although projects requiring materials will likely need to be paid for by the client if donations are unavailable. Further, the intent of our organization is to restore and recover from damages that are the direct result of a state or federally declared natural disaster. If projects fall outside of that scope we reserve the right to bill for time and materials as appropriate and in accordance to industry standards. For damages to private roads, bridges, or homes we will assist in applying for HOI or FEMA reimbursements to assist in getting the project fully funded.

We are planning on bringing in supplies from out of state, what kind of things should we prioritize.

That's a tough question as needs are constantly changing, and people who have been displaced are ready to rebuild and get back to stable living conditions, ie. an actual home. Your best bet would be to give us a call! We are still distributing aid across the region and have a good pulse of what the current needs are. You can also visit https://wnc-supply-sites.com/ which is a database of vetted distribution sites that are still active.

Are you a 501c3 Non-profit?

Just about! We have filed and waiting for our determination letter.

Do you hand out aid to survivors at your location?

By appointment only

Do you work on the weekend?

At this time we are only working M-F unless we are having a work party or receiving shipments by appointment.

How can I become a member of your organization?

Give us a call or fill our our contact form! There are still plenty of opportunities for leadership and we are actively looking to grow our team.
